What is Covered by Wedding Insurance?

Everyone wants the perfect wedding. As fun as it is making all your Pinterest dreams come to life, it can also be extremely stressful. Those last few days of putting final details together and anxiously checking the weather can often make it hard to enjoy the excitement and happiness of planning a wedding. Luckily, wedding insurance can take some of this stress away and help you enjoy your big day.

There are two forms of typical wedding insurance coverage: liability insurance and cancellation coverage.

Liability Insurance:

There is nothing more special than having all your favorite people in life gathered in the same room. The celebrations are likely to get a little out of hand. That’s why the liability portion of wedding insurance is so significant. It will cover anything you may be responsible for, including potential damage to the venue or a guest getting injured or sick while in attendance.

Cancellation Coverage:

Cancellation coverage will take away the majority of your stress away if your venue or wedding activities are outdoors. It can cover the costs of any wedding cancellation or delay due to circumstances such as extreme weather, injury/illness of valuable bridal party members or wedding guests, and any other reasons outside the couple’s control.

There are additional coverages you may find within or purchase with a wedding insurance policy.

Other additional coverages could include:

  1. Problematic Vendor

You may receive reimbursement if, let’s say, the catering company fails to show up, or the officiant does not arrive.

  1. Military Deployment

An unexpected military deployment that results in cancellation may be covered.

  1. Stolen Gifts

Coverage can also extend to any stolen, non-cash, wedding gifts.

Unfortunately, wedding insurance will not cover everything. Cold feet, a lost or damaged engagement ring, and even just a rainy day, will not be reimbursed under wedding insurance. However, the comfort of knowing an insurance policy has your back when things are out of your control can do wonders for you on your special day.
