How do I sign up for Medicare Parts A and B?

There are a few ways
  1. Visit your local Social Security Office
  2. Call the Social Security Office: 1(800) 772-1213

When is Open Enrollment?

Open Enrollment is October 15th through December 7th, every year. Open Enrollment is the only time someone who has a Medicare prescription drug plan can make a change. This time period is for those who already have Medicare, not for those who are new to Medicare. Outside of this time period one must have a Special Enrollment Period. This is not related to Medicare Supplements, which can be changed throughout the year, with medical underwriting.

Do I have to sign up for Medicare Part B when I turn 65?

You do not have to sign up for Medicare when you turn 65. As long as you or your spouse are actively working and are on your employer’s or spouse's employer-sponsored plan. However, we do recommend that people compare their options because there are many scenarios that Medicare, a Supplement and RX plan are better than employer coverage.
