Benefit Plan Developer | Organizer | Committed Friend | Believer of Salt Cures Anything
Mary Mengason is a partner and the vice president of Avery Hall Benefit Solutions. She manages the AHBS office in Salisbury. Her journey with Avery Hall began in 1995 as an account executive. She was later promoted to her current position in 2005 and bought into the business in 2007. Her specialty is working with group benefit plans for customers of all sizes, such as small family businesses up to a large multi-state poultry company.
She loves working in benefits insurance because she sees how much it truly can help someone. Mary attempts to alleviate stress about service coverages. She finds the challenge of assisting companies in putting together a fabulous benefits plan for its employees extremely rewarding. Also, staying knowledgeable about the ever-changing legislation and compliance regulations related to the insurance industry keeps her from ever being bored.
Professionally, Mary is a former recipient of the Person of the Year award from the Eastern Shore Association of Health Underwriters. Mary also served as the president and Program Chair for the Eastern Shore Association of Health Underwriters. Her local involvement in the Association of Health Underwriters led her to become the Membership Chair of the Maryland Association of Health Underwriters.
Community service is very important to Mary. She is currently on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Lower Eastern Shore and the Peninsula Regional Medical Center Foundation. She previously served as a board member for the March of Dimes.
Mary has two young adult sons who make her very proud. For the past seven years, she and her sons have been devoted volunteers for Appalachia Service Project (ASP), where they travel to Appalachia for a week each year and help repair houses. It is a very gratifying week and the best form of therapy she has found.
During her free time, she enjoys spending time with marathon runner boyfriend, Eddy, her family members and friends, reading, and being anywhere near the water. Lastly, she treasures her time with her family and their beloved dog, Miller.
