Mary Mengason is the senior vice president of Avery Hall Benefit Solutions and is a managing partner of the AHBS office in Selbyville. Her career with Avery Hall began in 1995 as an account executive, and she was later promoted to her current position in 2005, becoming a partner in 2007. Mary’s specialty is designing benefit packages that enable employers to attract an extraordinary workforce. Her customers include businesses of all sizes, from small family businesses to large multi-state companies.
She enjoys selling employee benefits packages because she understands how challenging it is for businesses to be competitive. Today’s employees are not only looking at salaries but want to understand their overall benefits package. For employers, Mary and her team attempt to alleviate the stress of employee benefits, frequently working as an “HR department” for their customers. Staying knowledgeable about ever-changing legislation and compliance regulation and informing her customers is integral to the partnership AHBS provides.
Professionally, Mary is a former recipient of the Person of the Year award from the Eastern Shore Association of Health Underwriters. Mary also served as the president and Program Chair for the Eastern Shore Association of Health Underwriters. Her local involvement in the Association of Health Underwriters led her to become the Membership Chair of the Maryland Association of Health Underwriters.
Community service is a passion of Mary’s. Currently, she is on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Lower Eastern Shore and a committee member for Women United. She served as a board member for the March of Dimes, Friends of Coastal Hospice, and the Peninsula Regional Foundation board.
Mary has two adult sons who make her very proud. One of her favorite memories is working with them for Appalachia Service Project (ASP), where for seven summers, they traveled to Appalachia and helped repair homes.
Mary enjoys spending time with her marathon runner boyfriend, Eddy, her family, her friends, reading, listening to music and podcasts during her free time. Mary loves being anywhere near the water and treasures her time with her family and her adorable puppy, Elvis.
