Athletes Serving Athletes (ASA) is an organization that first was started by David Slomkowski who wanted to give back and help support people with disabilities in Baltimore City. In 2007 he partnered with the William S. Baer School and formed relationships with the students who then stated as ASA’s first athletes. The success of ASA is driven by the number of people encouraged to cross finish lines since 2007. Typically ASA participants train and compete in over 90 running and triathlon events a year. Since then, ASA has expanded to numerous counties including Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford, and Howard County, along with Baltimore City, Central Pennsylvania, the Easter Shore, and Southern and Western Maryland.
Avery Hall is proud to support the Eastern Shore chapter of Athletes Serving Athletes. Avery Hall employee Lauren Willey became an ASA athlete this summer and is in need of a race wheelchair to help prevent costly maintenance the one she uses daily. We are beyond proud of Lauren and happy to kickoff this fundraising campaign.
