Attention Senior Veterans: Did you know that you could save money on your monthly prescriptions?
If you are transitioning to Medicare or currently have a Medicare Part D Prescription Plan, using Veterans Affairs (VA) may be a good option for you. Here’s how to get started:
First, you must contact the VA Health Eligibility Center (1-877-222-VETS (8387) to confirm your eligibility and enroll. Schedule an appointment with a VA doctor at a facility near your home for a consultation. The VA benefits offer creditable drug coverage, and you can delay Medicare Part D enrollment without incurring a late enrollment penalty.
You can compare the pricing for your prescriptions from the VA and Medicare Part D plan to decide on the best option. It’s important to remember that the VA and Medicare are two separate medical coverage programs. The VA benefits will only provide coverage at VA pharmacies and facilities, and the Medicare Part D will only offer coverage at pharmacies in your plan’s network. Some services provided by the VA and possibly not covered by Medicare include Hearing Aids & Vision.
Medicare Enrollment and knowing the required periods to complete the applications can be a challenge, but fortunately, our team of specialists is ready to help.
