Melissa “Mel” Becker began her journey at Avery Hall in 2017 as a benefit solutions seasonal IMD account manager at the Salisbury office. She was soon after promoted to account executive for group benefits in the spring of 2018. Her specialty is working with business owners and human resources managers, where she helps them create benefit packages that offer value to their employees.
Previously, Mel sat as a Board Member for a non-profit animal rescue in Harrisburg, PA. Her favorite charities are Americorps, St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, and the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore. She is also very passionate about youth mentoring and education.
A fun fact about Mel is that she has been a competitive equestrian her entire life! She still enjoys traveling the East Coast, competing with her horse, Kaya.
In her free time, Mel enjoys traveling, horseback riding, and attending concerts and music festivals. Mel is a fan of the Philadelphia Flyers and any 80’s rom-com movie. One of Mel’s favorite hobbies is hiking. All her favorite vacations have been to a Midwest or Western National Park. So far, she has visited the Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, Glacier Bay, and Sequoia!
Mel’s zeal for life and travel is reflective of a section from one of her favorite Erin Hanson poems, “There is a freedom waiting for you. On the breezes of the sky, and you ask, ‘What if I fall?’ Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?”
